The Cardiff-based government agency has today announced that mandatory ID verification for UK-registered companies will be phased in from 18th November of this year.
The new requirement was introduced under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 (ECCTA) but it had not yet been confirmed, when it would come into force. With the long-awaited announcement now having been made, companies will need to act quickly to ensure compliance.
After November 18th, individuals will not be able to be appointed as company directors without having first verified their identity. For existing directors, IDV will have to have been completed before the due date of their company’s next confirmation statement.
